The 1st Young Researchers Workshop/Meeting & 2nd Working Groups Meeting is organized by the COST Action CA24124 “Network for the Advancement of Neutropenia Research and Patient Support (Neutro-NARPS)” as an in-person event, hosted by Prof Joanna Cichy and the Department of Immunology at the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology, Jagiellonian University, Kraków, Poland.

This event aims at bridging basic science and clinical practice by creating a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and the development of innovative approaches. It strengthens interdisciplinary cooperation, supports young and early-career reaserachers, fosters collaboration across new and  established research teams and enhances patient advocacy and awareness.

Any Working Group member and researcher can apply, however, a limited number of participants will be accepted, with younger researchers strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants are encouraged to submit an abstract of their recent research on neutropenias. A seat will be reserved to NEUTRO-NARPS holders of leadership positions, invited speakers/ chairs/tutors.

The participants will also have the opportunity to attend the 34th Severe Chronic Neutropenia International Registry – Local Liaison Physicians Meeting that is taking place as a joint meeting in the same venue of Audytorium Maximum, Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland

Deadline for applications: May 22th 2026

Application Process:

    1. Applicants must submit their application online via the following link: https://neutro-narps.eu/1st-young-researchers-2nd-wg-meetings-pre-registration/ before the deadline of 22th May 2026.

    2. The application should consist of:
      • A brief C.V.
      • A motivation letter stating the relevance to your research and the value to participate in the meeting.
      • A letter of support from your PI/senior Researcher/Clinician from your home Institution (for non-Faculty members).
    1. The applicants are also encouraged to submit an abstract of up to 500 words text (Advise Abstract submission Guidelines). Selected abstracts will be presented as oral or poster presentations during the meeting. Submission of an abstract will be considered an advantage during the selection process of the applicants.
    2. The applicants will be formally notified of the outcome of their application on May 29th 2026 at the latest.

Important Notes:

    1. The selected applicants will be sent a formal COST invitation to the email they have provided and instructions for reimbursement rules for the expenses regarding the whole travel.
    2. The selected participants will be reimbursed from the COST Action NEUTRO-NARPS for travel costs and will get a fixed amount of daily allowance (for their accommodation, meals and any public local transport) as per COST rules
    3. Participants are advised to include cancellation insurance when making arrangement for travel and accommodation

Abstract Submission Guidelines

  1. Word Limit: 500 words (excluding title, authors, and affiliations).
  2. Language: English.
  3. Structure: Please organize the abstract using the following headings (where applicable):
    • Background: Brief context and rationale for the study.
    • Objectives: Clearly state the aim(s) of the work.
    • Methods: Describe study design, participants/samples, and analytical methods.
    • Results: Present key findings with relevant data
    • Conclusions: Summarize the main implications or significance of the findings.
  4. Title (maximum ~20 words).
  5. Authors and Affiliations: List all authors with full names, provide institutional affiliations
    (institution, city, country).
  6. Formatting: (Arial, Calibri or any standard font, size 11, 1,5 spacing)
  7. Abbreviations: Define abbreviations at first use.
  8. Keywords: Provide 3–5 keywords
