Our NEUTRO-NARPS community came together in beautiful Krakow, Poland, for the 1st Young Researchers Workshop/Meeting and 2nd Working Groups Meeting of COST Action CA24124, held from 3 to 5 September 2026, hosted by Prof Joanna Cichy and the Dept. of Immunology, Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology (FBBB), the Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland
Three days filled with scientific presentations, stimulating discussions, new ideas and valuable networking opportunities brought together researchers and collaborators from across the Action. The meeting offered a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with familiar colleagues, welcome new members and strengthen the connections that lie at the heart of NEUTRO-NARPS.
Day 1 – Young Researchers’ Workshop
The meeting opened with a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere as members of the NEUTRO-NARPS community gathered in Krakow. Alongside scientific exchange and discussions, the first day provided opportunities for participants to get to know one another, share perspectives and explore common research interests.
An important highlight was the formation of young researchers’ sub-groups, encouraging participants to connect, exchange ideas and develop collaborative discussions that continued throughout the meeting.

Day 2 – Working Groups Meeting
The second day featured excellent scientific presentations, engaging discussions and productive exchanges among members of the network.
The 2nd Working Groups Meeting, held in a hybrid format, provided an opportunity for both on-site and remote participants to contribute to discussions and strengthen collaboration across the Action’s research areas.
The day concluded with a guided tour through the historic heart of Krakow, offering participants the chance to discover the city’s rich cultural heritage while continuing conversations and building friendships in a more informal setting.
Day 3 – Young Researchers’ Meeting
The final day placed our Young Researchers and their scientific contributions at the centre of attention.
Through oral presentations, an engaging Poster Walk and presentations by the young researchers’ sub-groups formed on the first day, participants shared their research, perspectives and ideas with the wider NEUTRO-NARPS community, highlighting the importance of supporting the next generation of scientists and encouraging their active participation in international research networks.
In parallel, the Local Liaison Physicians Meeting of the European Branch of the Severe Chronic Neutropenia International Registry (SCNIR) offered an interesting scientific programme, with several NEUTRO-NARPS members participating in its sessions.
The programme also included the joint European Hematology Association (EHA) & NEUTRO-NARPS session and the NEUTRO-NARPS Partners & Industry session, providing additional opportunities for scientific exchange and interaction with the wider research and stakeholder community.
Our sincere thanks go to all Young Researchers, speakers, poster presenters, session chairs, tutors and participants for their enthusiasm, engagement and valuable contributions throughout the three days.
A very special thank you goes to Prof. Joanna Cichy and the Department of Immunology, Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology (FBBB), Jagiellonian University, for their warm hospitality and for welcoming the NEUTRO-NARPS community to Krakow.
Beyond the excellent scientific programme, the meeting reminded us of the importance of personal connections, shared experiences and a common commitment to advancing neutropenia research and patient support.
